Assignment Title: Restaurant Culture in America

What I learned: I learned how to develop an individual research project. I started with a topic, researched scholarly papers to give me direction within that topic, and I created interview questions to ask informants. I was able to complete an entire research project from picking the topic to analyzing the answers that were given by the informants. I learned the proper techniques of interviewing, including creating open-ended questions, and analyzing the answers that were given. I learned how to connect my study results with the information collected from scholarly articles.

Reflection to the assignment: This assignment was time consuming and challenging. It allowed me to use skills I had learned in previous classes to put together a study of my own. I felt confident about the final outcome and the skills that I acquired while completing this task.

Relevance to the profession: Research is very important in the nutrition field. It is not only important to understand how to read research, but to also be able to create and complete research projects. It is important to be able to interview subjects and be able to interpret the answers that are given, not just for research, but for any situation with clients in a clinical or non-clinical setting.
