- Management
Location: PVAMC B1A
During this rotation I worked with Deanne Carlisle, who I spent some time working with during my food service rotation. She helped me to understand the in's and out's of management. I was able to attend meetings, work on projects, review financial details for the department and learn about food service management.
One meeting I attended was with Deanne's boss, where we discussed FTEs of the department, issues with employees, and the future of the department. I was also able to work on putting together an in-service for employees with regard to learning how to use a new food cart for delivery of meals at the Vancouver CLC location.
Also of intrigue and excitement, was working on the switch from current retherm food service to room service-style food service. I was able to be included on conference calls and do research for the details necessary for the switch. It was a nice project to work on, considering all the feedback I have received from the veterans about the food during other rotations.
During this rotation I was also able to analyze the cost and benefit of the Enhanced Snack Program, which I was involved with in my food service rotation. It was a great experience being able to follow up with that program to see it in full effect, and being able to see that it is popular and cost effective.
